The hotel

The 3-star Heights Hotel is a distinctive landmark on the beautiful Isle of Portland at the heart of Dorset’s World Heritage Jurassic Coast. The island is tied to the mainland by Chesil Beach (& easily reached by road from Weymouth). This unique hotel has a welcoming large marble reception lounge at the entrance. The first-floor restaurant, bar lounge and bistro share fabulous panoramic views over Chesil Beach and Portland Harbour, while a relaxed ground floor café-bar provides the perfect spot to unwind in the evening.

Daily excursions and lunches

  • A scenic drive along the Chesil Beach coastline to historic Abbotsbury village with a visit to its spectacular sub-tropical gardens in full summer glory
  • Thomas Hardy’s Birthplace Visitor Centre at Brockhampton plus the charming cob & thatch cottage where he wrote ‘Far from the Madding Crowd’
  • A day exploring the island – Portland’s majestic Tudor castle, the open-air Sculpture Park and the visitor centre at iconic Portland Bill Lighthouse
